GREATER STATESVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICIALC. MICHAEL SMITH NAMED TO NCEDA BOARDStatesville, NC, JUNE 18, 2008: Greater Statesville Development Corporation (GSDC) Director C. Michael Smith has been named to the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Economic Development Association (NCEDA). The NCEDA is the statewide association for professional economic developers and their allies in North Carolina.“The NCEDA does good work across the state and I am pleased and honored to be asked to serve on the Board of Directors,” said Smith, who also worked with the North Carolina Department of Commerce in Raleigh prior to joining the GSDC in 2006.Smith is one of three new board members named during the NCEDA annual conference. Each will serve a 3 year term. The other new board members appointed were; Jim Nichols, Director of Science and Technology Business Development for O’Brien/Atkins Associates in Research Triangle Park, and Mike Wilkins, Senior Vice President of Statewide Operations and Economic Development for the NC Biotech Center.
