Statesville, NC - MAY 21, 2008: Statesville Business Park will soon be home to Kooks Custom Headers which today announced its plans to build a manufacturing facility in the park. Kooks is the largest manufacturer of custom automotive exhaust systems on the east coast. Their customers include many of the top racing teams, as well as custom car shops and car enthusiasts. The facility will house both administrative and manufacturing functions, and will create a total of 55 new jobs and bring $4 million in new investment over five years.
“Kooks is very well connected in the motorsports industry, a market that we have specifically targeted for growth,” said Mike Smith of the Greater Statesville Development Corporation. “They will be an excellent fit for the Statesville and Iredell County business communities.”
Kooks Custom Headers president George (Papa) Kook Sr. echoed Smith’s comments. “Moving from our long-time base of operations on Long Island was a difficult decision for us, but the people of Statesville, from the mayor to the realtor who sold us our new house, made it an easy choice.”
Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin immediately, pending zoning and permitting approval, with manufacturing operations starting in late 2008 or early 2009. Kooks will be the first new business to locate in the Statesville Business Park since 1995.
The Greater Statesville Development Corporation would like to recognize the following partners in this significant announcement for our community: the City of Statesville, Iredell County, and the Greater Statesville Area Committee of 100.
