Doosan Infracore Portable Power Selects Statesville For New Headquarters And Manufacturing Facility:
12/21/2007
Statesville will soon become home to one of the top ten construction equipment makers in the world. Doosan Infracore International (DII) announced today the selection of Statesville, N.C. as the new headquarters and primary manufacturing location for Doosan Infracore Portable Power, the division formerly known as Ingersoll Rand Utility Equipment.  DII Portable Power will locate in the 473,000 square foot building on Glenway Drive that formerly housed Dana Corporation’s Off-Highway Systems Division. The building was recently purchased by DII for an undisclosed amount. The remaining Dana administrative and technical personnel will relocate to new offices in Statesville.

DII Portable Power manufactures and sells air compressors, light towers and portable generators for global markets. The facility is expected to generate new jobs in manufacturing, administration and technical support services, with the overall number of employees at the site reaching close to 400.

“We are extremely excited by this acquisition,” said Larry Silber, President of Doosan Infracore Portable Power.  “Once again, Doosan has demonstrated its commitment to our construction markets by investing in a world class manufacturing location that will help Portable Power meet its aspirations to double our business by 2012. Located on the crossroads of Interstate 77 and Interstate 40, the brownfield site was previously owned by Dana Corporation and is ideally located to support our North America and international businesses.”

It is anticipated that manufacturing operations will begin transitioning from the current location in Mocksville, N.C. in April of 2008, with the process completed within six to eight months.  DII Portable Power will also move its headquarters from Davidson, N.C. to the Statesville location, and consolidate several satellite distribution centers at that facility.

Statesville Mayor Costi Kutteh commented on the announcement, "I am excited and honored to have served as local counsel for Doosan International USA, Inc. in their acquisition of the old Dana facility.  I am also excited, as Mayor of Statesville, to have a major industrial facility occupied here.  It is a tribute to the hard work of many people.  I am pleased for the community because Statesville has another outstanding corporate partner which I believe will play a large role in many aspects of the city's life."

Iredell County Commissioners Chairman Marvin Norman agreed, “We are very pleased to be able to use this outstanding office and manufacturing facility to benefit the citizens of Statesville and Iredell County by creating new job opportunities.  We look forward to our relationship with this significant new corporate citizen.”

Greater Statesville Development Corporation Chairman David Steele said, “We're excited to have Doosan Infracore coming to Statesville.  It's especially exciting to have such a large, well-known international company occupying our most visible manufacturing site."

The Greater Statesville Development Corporation would like to recognize the following partners in this significant announcement for our community: the City of Statesville, Iredell County, Duke Energy, PSNC, the NC Department of Commerce, the NC Community College System, and the Greater Statesville Area Committee of 100.
