Iredell County and the City of Statesville have a wide variety of parks and facilities located on over 600 acres of land, including walking trails, play equipment for children, public tennis courts, horseshoe courts, softball fields, and a new soccer complex with lighted fields.  Our mild climate and rolling wooded community is an easy place to relax out of doors and enjoy our natural scenic beauty.
Lake Norman offers lakeside living and a wide range of boating and fishing activities along the more than 32,000 acres. Golf is a 12-month-a-year sport in Greater Statesville, with five courses in our community and another ten within a 30 minute drive. The PGA puts on the Wachovia Championship each May in Charlotte, and the Wyndham Championship each August in Greensboro.  We also have a Champions Tour event in October at Rock Barn in Hickory, 25 minutes away.  Other near by sports include the NFL's Carolina Panthers, the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, minor league baseball in Charlotte, Hickory, and Winston-Salem, ECHL hockey in Charlotte, and exciting college sports with the UNC-Charlotte 49ers, the Davidson Wildcats and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons all with in 45 minutes.  In addition, our region is the heart of NASCAR, with Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord and Race City USA located in Mooresville.

If your interests lean towards the arts, the nearby Blumenthal Performing Arts Center attracts world-class performances and Broadway Shows. Our Statesville Arts Council is growing and offers a number of interesting events at their downtown location.  Several area venues host national musical touring acts, and Bluegrass Music's premier annual event - Merlefest - brings the top acts to a three-day festival each spring in North Wilkesboro. Statesville's annual Carolina Balloon Fest attracts a national audience to this colorful and exciting event, which is the longest running balloon event on the east coast.  We are also 30 minutes south of the Yadkin Valley Wine Region, with over 20 wineries.

The same crossroads that make Statesville a great business location allow for one-day car rides to Washington, DC, Atlanta, Disney World, Nashville and more. Two international airports are nearby, with Charlotte-Douglas Airport (45 minutes away) providing non-stop direct flights to Europe and has 123 direct flights throughout North America.

While Statesville and Troutman enjoy a great climate year-round, we're 90 minutes to Asheville and Biltmore Estates and three and one half hours from the ocean (Myrtle Beach or Charleston). If snow skiing is your passion, great skiing is 90 minutes away in North Carolina or a little over two hours away in Virginia and West Virginia.
