Greater Statesville Development Corporation
Statesville-Mooresville Ranked No. 2 Micropolitan Area by Site Selection Magazine. Read Site Selection article.
Statesville offers a superior location at the intersection of I-77 and I-40. Advantages include: 38 miles north of Charlotte, the largest MSA in the Carolinas, 15 minutes from Lake Norman the largest lake in North Carolina, and 45 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The community is less than one hour’s interstate drive to direct flights to Europe and 123 non-stop flights across North America at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, and less than one hour from the Fed Ex Mid-Atlantic Sorting Hub located at the Piedmont Triad International Airport. Why Greater Statesville?
Statesville and Troutman are both in an attainment area, and do not have the air quality restrictions that nonattainment areas do for industrial growth. In addition, Statesville is served by two different water sources, which add to our ability to help businesses grow. Electrical rates for industrial users from Duke Energy, EnergyUnited, and ElectriCities are among the most competitive in the southeast.
The Town of Troutman is also part of Greater Statesville and includes waterfront communities on Lake Norman. Iredell County is a thriving industrialized area, and the Greater Statesville service area includes more than 180 industrial operations, including plastics, transportation equipment, metal working, and distribution.
A new a speculative industrial building has been completed in the Statesville Business Park, located four miles on four-lane US 70 East, from I-77 Exit 49A.
Statesville has an outstanding labor force of over 80,000, with more than 12,000 jobs in manufacturing. A strength of the community is our skilled workforce and our customized worker training programs offered through historic (1854) Mitchell Community College.
